GET TO KNOW POLAND

Poland sits right in the heart of Europe. Its capital, Warsaw, is a city of extraordinary resilience — almost completely destroyed during World War II, it was painstakingly rebuilt from scratch and now buzzes with a modern, vibrant energy. The Royal Castle, the Old Town Market Square (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the moving Warsaw Uprising Museum are all must-visits.

But Poland is so much more than Warsaw. Kraków, often considered the country's cultural capital, is home to Wawel Castle, the medieval Cloth Hall, and the hauntingly important Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial — a sobering but deeply meaningful stop that draws visitors from around the world. The Wieliczka Salt Mine, just outside Kraków, is another UNESCO site and one of the most unique underground attractions in Europe.

Nature lovers will find plenty to explore too. The Tatra Mountains in southern Poland are stunning in every season — perfect for hiking in summer and skiing in winter. And if you're looking for a fairy-tale forest moment, the Białowieża Forest is one of the last and largest primeval forests in Europe, home to free-roaming European bison.

Poland also holds 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a thriving food scene (pierogi, żurek, and bigos are just the beginning), and a warmth that will make you feel genuinely welcome. It's one of Eastern Europe's best-kept secrets — and it won't stay that way for long.

FAQs

1. When should I apply for a visa?

Apply no earlier than 6 months before your travel date, and no later than 15 days before your planned departure. We recommend applying at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance to allow buffer time for processing.

2. How long is the visa valid for?

Your visa validity depends on the duration and type of visa granted by the Embassy. A standard tourist visa is typically valid for the requested duration of stay, up to a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period. Multiple-entry visas may be granted if you have a strong travel history.

3. Can my visa be extended while I'm in the Schengen Area?

Schengen visas can only be extended in exceptional circumstances (e.g., humanitarian reasons, force majeure). Extensions are not guaranteed and must be applied for at the relevant authority in the country you're in.

4. Can I submit my application without an appointment?

No. All appointments must be booked online through the BLS International appointment portal. Walk-ins are not allowed.

5. Is visa approval guaranteed?

No. Visa approval is entirely at the discretion of the Embassy of Poland. The best way to maximize your chances is to submit complete, well-organized documents that clearly show your intent to return to the Philippines after your trip.

6. What if I'm outside the Philippines? How can I apply?

If you are residing in another country, you must apply at the Polish Embassy or authorized visa application center with jurisdiction over your area of residence.
