Are you planning to apply for an Iceland Schengen Visa in the Philippines?
Then you're in the right place. Iceland is a bucket-list destination for Filipino travelers, with its waterfalls, glaciers, geothermal pools, and the Northern Lights.
This guide covers the standard application process for a Philippine passport holder: where to apply, the documents you need, the fees, and the Iceland-specific details that applicants often miss, such as the daily funds requirement in Icelandic krónur and the five-day window for sending missing documents.
GET TO KNOW ICELAND
Iceland is a small island with a big landscape. The Golden Circle brings together Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area, and the Gullfoss waterfall in one easy day trip from Reykjavik. The South Coast offers waterfalls such as Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, black sand beaches, and glacier hikes. Further out, the Ring Road circles the whole island and passes volcanoes, lava fields, and fishing villages.
In winter, Iceland is one of the most popular places in Europe to see the Northern Lights. In summer, the long daylight hours of the midnight sun give travelers extra time to explore. Reykjavik, the capital, is compact and walkable, with museums, restaurants, and geothermal pools.
Iceland is also a Schengen country, which means a visa for Iceland lets you travel to the rest of the Schengen Area, within the rules of your visa. If Iceland is your main destination, you apply for the visa through the Iceland application route described below.

Review the Iceland visa document checklist for the Philippines, so you know exactly what to prepare for your purpose of travel.
STEP 2: Complete the Online Application
Fill in the application at https://visa.government.is/ and keep your confirmation of submission. You must show it to VFS Global staff.
STEP 3: Gather Your Documents
Compile everything on the checklist: passport, photo, insurance, flight itinerary, accommodation, cover letter and day-to-day itinerary, bank statements (6 months), proof of occupation, and proof of ties.
STEP 4: Book Your VFS Global Appointment
Book your appointment for Manila or Cebu City on the VFS Global Iceland page: https://visa.vfsglobal.com/phl/en/isl/
STEP 5: Attend Your Appointment
Bring your passport and all documents. A VFS officer will check them against the checklist and mark any missing items. Your biometrics (photo and fingerprints) will be collected, and you will pay the visa fee and service fee. Sign and date the acknowledgement page of the checklist.
STEP 6: Send Any Missing Documents Within 5 Days
If VFS marked any documents as missing, email them to visa.tokyo@utn.is and visa@utn.is within 5 calendar days of your appointment. Use your name as it appears in your passport as the subject line, and include your passport number and the city of your application centre. Attach documents as PDF files only. Check your spam folder, because emails from the embassy may land there. If you do not send them in time, your application may be decided without them, which can lead to delay or refusal.
STEP 7: Wait for the Embassy's Decision
VFS forwards your file to the Embassy of Iceland in Tokyo. Processing normally takes about 15 days after the embassy receives your application. You may be contacted by the Icelandic authorities for an interview.
STEP 8: Collect Your Passport
Collect your passport as instructed by VFS Global. If your visa is approved, check that your name, validity dates, number of entries, and duration of stay are correct.

FAQs
1. Is there an Iceland embassy in the Philippines?
No. You submit your application at VFS Global in Manila or Cebu City, and it is forwarded to the Embassy of Iceland in Tokyo, Japan for processing.
2. Does the Norwegian Embassy still handle Iceland visas from the Philippines?
Some older guides say so. However, Iceland's official list of where to apply currently names the Embassy of Iceland in Tokyo, with VFS Global in Manila and Cebu City as the places to submit your application. Always check the official page before you apply: https://island.is/en/get-a-visa/where-to-apply
3. How long does an Iceland visa take?
Approximately two weeks when your documents are complete. The embassy normally processes applications within 15 days after receiving them from VFS Global. Missing documents can cause delays. Apply at least 4 to 6 weeks before your trip.
4. How much money do I need to show for Iceland?
Your bank statements must show ISK 8,000 per day for your whole trip if you are staying in a hotel, or ISK 4,000 per day if a third party pays for your stay. Statements should cover the last 6 months and be in your own name.
5. Will I get a multiple-entry visa?
Iceland issues a single-entry visa to tourists by default. A double or multiple-entry visa is granted only if your trip clearly needs it and your documents support it. For example, if your trip includes leaving the Schengen Area and coming back, you should apply for at least a double-entry visa.
6. I want to visit Iceland and other Schengen countries. Where do I apply?
Apply to the country where you will spend the most days or that is the main purpose of your trip. If you can't determine a main destination, apply to your first point of entry. Iceland cannot be treated as the responsible country if you will stay longer in another Schengen country.
7. Does an Iceland Schengen visa cover Greenland or the Faroe Islands?
No. Greenland and the Faroe Islands are not part of the Schengen Area, and a separate visa is required. These are issued by Denmark.
8. Can I work in Iceland with a Schengen visa?
No. A Schengen visa is for short stays such as tourism, business, or visiting family and friends. It does not give you the right to work.
9. What if my visa is refused?
You will receive a refusal letter explaining the reason and how to appeal. A refusal does not stop you from applying again.
10. Is visa approval guaranteed?
No. Approval is at the discretion of the Embassy of Iceland. A complete, consistent, well-organized application is the best way to maximize your chances.
