The Embassy of Japan has recently advised applicants to apply at least 2 months before their trip to Japan due to an increase in applications.

DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS

The list is obtained from the Embassy Website.

  1. Passport

    Signed passport with at least 2 blank pages
    Immigration Officers require it to have at least 6 months validity

  2. Application Form

    completed and signed

  3. PSA Birth and Marriage Certificate (married applicants)

    Make sure that the certificate is issued within 1 year

  4. Travel Itinerary

    Completed travel itinerary with travel plan and accommodation details

  5. If applicant will shoulder all/part of the travel expenses

    • Bank Certificate with 6 months average daily balance. If the bank certificate does not have an ADB, bank statements within the last 6 months must be submitted.

    • Income Tax Return. Signed BIR Form 2303 for employees. For business owners, actual payment of the tax must be submitted together with the ITR.

    • Signed Employment Certificate for Employees OR Business Registration Documents for Business Owners

  6. If a guarantor in the Philippines will shoulder all/part of the expenses

    • Guarantee Letter

    • Proof of relationship between applicant and guarantor

    • Bank Certificate

    • Photocopy of Tax Payment Certificate

    • Employment Certificate 

  7. ID Photo

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Apply for Japan Visa

  1. Gather Documents

    Gather the required documents and attach your photo to the Application Form.

  2. Book an Appointment with VFS

    Book an appointment with VFS to submit your application.

  3. Pay the VFS Fees

    The VFS Fee is PHP 520 per application.
    This fee can be paid on your appointment date.

  4. Attend your appointment date

    Be at the application center at least 15 minutes before your appointment. Make sure to have all your documents ready. Your biometric data (fingerprints and photo) will be taken at the center.

  5. Results

    Wait for the results.
    You will receive an email update when a decision has been made. Alternatively, you can track your application via the VFS tracker.

    For visas for short-term stay, there are multiple-entry visas for tourists (maximum visa validity: 5 years) and multiple-entry visas for cultural or intellectual figures (maximum visa validity: 10 years).

  • For documents issued or prepared in Japan, you can submit a photocopy. However, original documents are generally required for those not originating from Japan. If you cannot submit the original for old photos or documents due to their sentimental value, you can submit a copy along with a letter explaining the reason.
